This session is based on interviews of participants in gamification programs in large corporations. The major negative perception among these participants is that gamification involves exploitation of lower-level employees to benefit the greed of higher-level management. According to the interview responses, gamification employs pointification to create unhealthy competition among the employees. In addition, our interviews with researchers working in the area of cooperation reveal how the rewards employed in gamification punish the employees and remove the intrinsic motivation of job-related tasks. After pointing out these dangers and limitations, the session will explore strategies for reducing and removing them.
